Trichomonads in men: symptoms and methods of treatment

Trichomonads in men - a fairly common problem, because to date, trichomoniasis can be called one of the most common venereal infections. Therefore, many are interested in questions about what are the causes and symptoms of this disease.

Trichomonads in men and the transmission route

The cause of the development of trichomoniasis is the microorganism of the group of protozoa called "vaginal trichomonas." Pathogens of the disease, as a rule, settle in the tissues of the mucous membrane of the genitourinary system. Transmission of infection occurs during sexual intercourse with an infected person. Infection through household items, although possible, is unlikely, since pathogenic microorganisms can survive outside the host organism only for several hours and only in a humid environment.

In fact, static data confirm that men are much more likely to become latent carriers of infection - patients do not even suspect the presence of the disease. Nevertheless, the pathogen lives on the mucous membrane of the urethra. The main symptoms begin to appear if the number of microorganisms increases dramatically, for example, during the weakening of the immune system. In such cases, trichomonads in men lead to the appearance of white secretions from the urethra. In addition, many patients complain of discomfort during sexual intercourse. Often, urination and ejaculation cause pain.

Why are trichomonads dangerous in men?

The most dangerous is the latent course of the disease, since trichomoniasis quickly passes into a chronic form, causing a lot of disturbances. Recent studies have shown that the presence of trichomonads in the genitourinary system increases the susceptibility of the body to other infections. In addition, pathogenic microorganisms can often spread to the testicles and the prostate gland, so infected men often suffer from prostatitis. Trichomonads also damage testicular tissues, affect the production and development of spermatozoa. Often, such a disease gradually leads to the development of infertility.

Trichomonas treatment in men

In no case can one ignore the disease or treat it lightly - a sick person needs medical care. Fortunately, today there are medicines that can rid the body of an infection. As a rule, patients are prescribed special antiparasitic drugs - this can be as a one-time intake of a large dose of medicine, and a five- or seven-day course of treatment. In any case, it is worthwhile to realize that it is important to strictly follow the doctor's recommendations and the schedule of drug use, otherwise the therapy will be ineffective. It should be understood that the course of treatment is necessary at once to both partners, since otherwise the risk of re-infection is high. At least two weeks should be kept from sex, even with the use of protection against infection. In addition, after the completion of therapy, it is necessary to once again undergo a test and pass the necessary tests - only then you can consider yourself healthy.
