The fight against garden ants is a matter of honor for any gardener

From early childhood, we all heard stories about how highly intelligent ants are. Together with our parents, we admired their ability to work, "carrying capacity", an excellent ability to organize their colonies. Growing up and becoming owners of our own garden site, we suddenly encountered completely unexpected information. Indeed, the ants are very numerous and perfectly organized. The colony, living in an anthill on the territory of a garden plot, can number up to 10 million individuals. And this means that these insects can be covered with the trunks of all trees and shrubs.

The colony needs to be fed, so the ants bred their own "pets" - aphids. The tops of plants and young shoots usually serve as pastures for it. Often aphids completely destroy plants. Indifferent to their deaths are only garden ants. Fighting them becomes a necessity and a matter of honor for every gardener.

Fighting garden ants without chemicals

Destroy the anthill can be tried without resorting to the help of industrial chemicals:

• Daily (or at least several times a week) pour it with boiling water. A purposeful and systematic struggle with garden ants with the help of boiling water can make surviving insects look for a new place of residence.
• Cover the anthill with hot ashes, bleach, cinnamon, salt, dust.
• The popular method recommends watering an anthill and its courses with a compound made from a bucket of water, half a bottle of shampoo, two glasses of vegetable oil. This mixture must be poured into an anthill, having previously opened it.
• The area and the house itself, in which the insects live, can be covered with carbide or poured with diesel fuel.
• Ants should not be allowed to trees, because from such contact plants can die. Therefore, in order to prevent these insects from colonizing tree trunks, a water obstacle can be built near each of them. For this, the old ramp from the car is cut along and surrounded by a barrel, previously sealing the joint. Pour water. Such a barrier does not allow pests to enter the bush or tree.
• The struggle with garden ants may require the construction of a "skirt" for a tree. Make it simple. A rigid foil wraps around the bottom of the trunk, leaving a sharp "skirt". Ants do not differ in flexibility, so they will not fall on a tree.

All these methods of exterminating insects are working gradually. For faster (and more successful) disposal, experienced gardeners recommend the use of poison agents sold in special stores.

The fight against garden ants with the help of chemicals

One of the most harmless means, produced for the destruction of ants, is the sticky belt Aeroxon. It is impregnated with a special very sticky glue. Such a belt wraps trunks and branches from the earth itself to a meter in height. Insects can not overcome the barrier, but simply stick to it. You can use the following gels: "Clean house" (it also helps in the garden), "Fufanon", "Absolute". With the same names are produced and glues, but they are more suitable for processing the apartment. There are also preparations "Anteater", "Summerman" and "Muratsid", which also effectively expel the ant colony.
