Terry Rogers: a brief biography, exhibitions and works

An American artist, known all over the world, is Terry Rogers. He became famous for his huge and unusual canvases written in oil, which are almost impossible to distinguish from photographs.

short biography

Terry Rogers, whose biography begins in Newark, the big city of New Jersey, where the future artist was born on September 11, 1947, became one of the most talked about masters of our time. He spent his childhood in another large American city - Washington. He studied and successfully graduated in 1969 with honors from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Amherst College, which is located in Massachusetts.

His passion and genuine interest in the film industry and photography had a huge impact on the style of his work, which can be referred to as "hyperrealism" - so he bewitches with its realism.

Currently, Terry Rogers is engaged in describing modern states with the help of his style of seeing them. Embodiment on the canvases of imaginary entertainment life is an attempt to convey to the viewer the pure complexity of the modern world.

Exhibitions and the popularity of works

In May 2009, Terry Rogers, a world-renowned artist, opened his first solo exhibition. Before that, his work was presented in group exhibitions in 2005 and 2007. By now, Terry Rogers' skilful works have been presented to the public in many major cities of America (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago) and Europe (Amsterdam, Zurich, Milan, Berlin).

About his work, several books have been published, documentary films have been shot, and his pictures in international blogs are widely discussed.

Image Magic

When creating his paintings, Terry Rogers does not exclude the use of modern technology. So, initially, even at the stage of plot formation, he photographs the models, composes a common and interrelated picture from the images obtained with the help of computer editors, and only at the final stage transfers oil to the canvas with oil.

In his works, Terry Rogers tries to reflect his vision of the meaning of our time - how rich it is on the impressions and how difficult it is for most of today's people. His works contain a delicate intertwining of the known and unknown, enticing and rejecting, artistic-literary fiction and at the same time ordinary, real. They show modern life in this close intertwining of desires, fantasy, economic complexity and interdependence, social and individual isolation, and most importantly, they reflect hope.

Each of his works has its own specifics - certain parts of the body, expressions and emotions, psychology and mockery. Any person depicted by the artist has his own philosophy of life, which he conveys to the public with a gesture, a look, a mimicry. As a rule, people in pictures do not look directly at the viewer, nor do they look to each other. And nevertheless, their interrelation is clearly present in the image.

Terry Rogers' paintings, despite their seeming depravity, involve the viewer in a world of hidden desires, fantasies and numbness.
