Post-hardcore bands: the history of the creation of the genre, famous performers

Post-hardcore bands appeared in the mid-eighties of the last century. This offshoot of punk rock music has become one of the most popular among the young people of modern times. For several decades the musical direction has developed into a whole subculture with its own unspoken rules. Post-hardcore bands of our time use their songs as an instrument for communicating their worldview to the masses.

Origin

The first post-hardcore bands appeared on the territory of the United States of America in the eighties. The pioneers of this genre are the "Fuji" and "Javbox", which were the first to reject the installation of "classic" hardcore. To the heavy music and high vocal added modern electronic motifs. Also, screaming was used for the first time along with pure vocal. The musicians masterfully combined the styles of different punk scenes. At the same time, the theme of the songs was quite serious.

Sound

Dynamic sound replaced the simple scream and heavy chords. Music has become rhythmic, while not losing its frenzied energy, so characteristic of hardcore. After the success of the famous "Nirvana", more and more post-hardcore bands began to record their records. "Big Black" and "Shellak" brought to the direction of new trends in noise rock. The loud vocals, turning into a scream, alternated with silent screaking, which created a truly wild atmosphere at the concerts. Fans of post-hardcore often belonged to already existing subcultural groups. Therefore, the external attributes of the groups were also filled with nonconformist motives.

"Dag Nesti" and "Embrace" spread unspoken rules for all performers of post-hardcore. Considering themselves as indie musicians, they categorically deny all major labels. Concerts are most often held in abandoned warehouses or at various festivals. The price is extremely low. In the early nineties such meetings became a real problem for the US authorities. Drunken youth, heated with dynamic music, often got involved in various troubles. Therefore, gradually the festivals of post-hardcore bands began to be taken under the close attention of law enforcement agencies.

rules

With the proliferation of post-hardcore in Europe, there were some features of the show. Swiss band "Refusad" actively used steydzhayvving (jumping from the stage to the crowd) at their concerts. From classical hardcore was also borrowed a moshpit. However, over time, the genre began to go beyond marginal subcultures. With major labels, the most popular post-hardcore bands began to sign contracts . The list of such artists began to be called "mainstream post-hardcore." These are groups like "Askin Alexandria", "Attack Attack!", "Bleszyfol" and others. Big concerts and clips on television led to a post-hardcore scene of new fans, but they pushed away many old ones. Russian post-hardcore bands do not lag behind their Western colleagues and are often invited to international festivals. Groups like Folow Ocean, Cold Streets and Sekret Aveik have thousands of fans in the post-Soviet space.
