Katerina von Gechmen-Waldeck: Cinderella or hard worker?

This beautiful blond woman in her life was an actress, a professional theater and music manager. It was thanks to her that the audience could enjoy the stories unfolding on the stage in the musicals about the cathedral, Romeo and Juliet, Metro. And yet, despite so much labor invested in the cultural heritage of Russia, most people know about it exactly as a producer of a young actor and singer Alexei Vorobyov. Probably, many have already guessed who will be discussed in this article. So, get acquainted: Katerina von Gechmen-Valdek - not only a beauty, but also a clever woman, fluent in five languages.

Childhood years of the future Baroness

On the ninth day of October 1964, a girl named Katerina was born in an intelligent Moscow family. Her great-grandfather was the founder of the Tiflis conservatory, her grandfather professionally played the cello, and her father was at the head of the press service of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

It can not be said that Katerina von Gechmen-Waldeck was a Cinderella before she married a Austrian baron, Ernst Gechmen-Waldeck. The parents of the little girl were the former Soviet elite. Katerina grew up abroad. A little later came to Moscow, where she graduated from GITIS and acted in film. But about this later.

At first she studied in the Czech Republic: at that time her mother and father worked in the international journal "Problems of Peace and Socialism". The future baroness had international communication, which gave impetus to the study of five foreign languages: Polish, Czech, English, German and French, on which she could freely express herself.

Contrary to everything

When Katyusha Urmancheeva, in the future Katerina von Gechmen-Valdek, whose biography interests many townsfolk, came to the capital - Moscow, she refused to join the Komsomol. She moved from one school to another, having done this eight times. To prove to others that she is quite an independent person, she came to work in the Bolshoi Theater, where her grandfather soloed in the orchestra.

Later, she received a diploma from the acting faculty of GITIS, sharing some audiences with Dmitry Pevtsov and Alexei Serebryakov. Years later, in an interview, she told journalists about her convictions, which helped her so much in her youth. Katerina is still confident that in life one should give preference to the way to which the soul lies. After all, only when realizing its purpose can you reach quite real heights. But in what this destination is, everyone for himself is obliged to understand independently, having listened to his intuition and trying not to pay attention to society and even the family.

The road to creativity

After receiving the diploma, Katerina von Gechmen-Waldeck did a lot of acting in films, though she had small episodic roles. She has about fifteen works of art: Private Detective, or Operation Co-operation, White Bone, Actress from Gribov, Prince-Ghost ... But the Baroness did not take her profession seriously from the very beginning. She understood that the years of her studies and work began at a difficult time for the country. Then the Soviet cinema as such was no longer there, and the Russian cinema has not yet begun. But the young actress did not have serious acting ambitions. What she began to do a little later, for her was more important, more global. She considers this to be a creative process, and it is very interesting for her to work in Russia.

"The Mom of Musicals"

Katerina von Gechmen-Waldeck, whose photo can often be seen on the pages of glossy publications, is rightfully considered the founder of the genre "musical" in Russia. It was thanks to her that the country saw the first musicals - "Romeo and Juliet", "Metro" and "Notre Dame de Paris". The Baroness directly participated in the production of the musical "Metro" - from writing texts to casting from almost 4,000 applicants. Many businessmen at the time invested money in some musicals, but were defeated. Unlike the others, Katerina von Gechmen-Waldeck was successful. She always set a high standard, despite the fact that in Russia there was not yet a school of musical and traditions of this art. The Baroness always controlled all stages of the creation. She is sure that one should not focus on commercial issues. It is necessary to concentrate on creativity, not counting the future profit. Then any success can turn into money. For obtaining a license for a musical about the cathedral, she paid about 1.5 million euros. But then this musical was watched by more than 500 thousand spectators, and the famous trio "Bel" became a hit of 2002, it sounded from every window. By the way, all artists performed all the arias "live", the phonogram was not used in principle. The musical was nominated for the State Prize of Russia.

Alexei Vorobyev, whom she produced for several years, always remembers with special warmth, calling him a real nugget. He was created to be an artist, but not for glory. Just the meaning of his life in the exchange of energy with the audience. She is delighted that now, having reached a certain level and earning decent money, Vorobiev feeds his entire family (five people).

Love of her life

Katerina von Gechmen-Waldeck, whose birth date is October 9, says that this is a creative nature, she never thought about linking her life with some prince. But one day she was invited for a weekend in one mansion. There was a dinner for a small group of people. Her place was next to the Austrian baron Ernst Gechmen-Waldeck. It was love at first sight.

Within a few weeks he offered the Russian beauty a hand and a heart. But Katerina Urmancheeva agreed to this marriage only a year later, in 1993. So she became a baroness. Ernst and Katerina bring up two children from the previous marriage of the Baron (his first wife died). Tatiana and Vincent became dear to Katerina. No spouses have common children.
