Insurance in tourism

Today, the insurance policy, you can say, has become an obligatory part of the package of documents for travelers abroad. Insurance in tourism is a guarantee that the tourist, if necessary, will be assisted. The list of countries in which it is impossible to obtain a visa without health insurance includes countries such as the United States, Canada, the Schengen countries.

As a rule, the cost of the tour already includes insurance. But the travel insurance offered by tour operators usually covers only the minimum package of services that may be needed in case of injury or illness, say, the cost of treatment or payment for medical transportation.

And since the possibilities of insurance are in fact much wider, if you want, you can buy the policy yourself in the insurance company. To do this, it will be sufficient to present the already issued package of documents necessary for leaving the country.

I must admit that it will take some extra time to visit the office, but it will not be wasted, because tourism insurance has some subtleties that will be explained only to you in the insurance company - there you can, for example, find out in detail, in which cases the costs are reimbursed , And in some, not. Insurance in tourism has several types:

- civil liability - the insured event is the onset of civil liability by a court decision, in the event of harm to a third party in the territory of another country, whether property or life and health;

- Baggage - concerns theft, loss or damage, however, it should be noted that insurance does not apply to all things present in baggage, in particular money, antiques, jewelry;

- Cancellation of the tour - it provides for the possibility of canceling the tour, and conclude a contract at least 15 days before the scheduled departure date, but you need to take into account that the refusal to issue a visa is not an insurance event at all;

- from not leaving - provides for payment of the sum insured if it is impossible to leave due to unforeseen circumstances.

You can get abroad once, say, during a small vacation, or you can go abroad and several times in a couple of months, respectively, and insurance in tourism exists in two forms: short-term and long-term (the total departure should not exceed 60 days).

Making out insurance it is necessary to pay attention to:

- the period of its validity;

- The policy should be issued in two languages: Russian and the language of the country you are going to;

- Memo of the policyholder.

The insurance premium for the same insurer may vary depending on:

- tariffs with different guarantees and amounts of coverage;

- the length of the trip - the longer it takes, the higher the tariff;

- the quantitative and age composition of the tourist group, for example, the tariff for tourists of advanced age, over 70, is usually twice as high. Insurance in tourism implies the existence of an insurance policy, which should be kept with you, so that in the event of an unforeseen situation, you could immediately contact the dispatcher and ask for help.

But it is possible that even with a policy, for one reason or another, you have to pay cash for medical services. In this case it is necessary to collect all checks: for payment of the doctor's services, for medicines, transportation, etc., so that upon arrival, try to return the amount spent.

For this, an application is written to the insurance company about the insured event. The originals of the following documents are attached to it:

- accounts in which the name and date of birth of the person undergoing treatment, the policy number, the diagnosis, the medical services provided, their cost, dates, should be indicated;

- recipes, which indicate the date and surname of the patient and there are stamps of pharmacies;

- invoices for per diem expenses for stay in the hospital, in which the days of admission and discharge from the hospital must be indicated;

- tickets, etc.

Documents are provided to the insurance company personally. Response to the application under the law must be received within 14 days.
