For health and courage for - drops of the Danish king!

In 1967, the light saw the film "Zhenya, Zhenechka and Katyusha," later baptized one of the most delicate paintings about the Great Patriotic War. Her main character was a young man from Arbat and a "complete misunderstanding" in the life of Zhenya Kolyshkin. The creators of "Zhenya, Zhenechki ..." really filled their kinodetische with tenderness, light, love and adventure, having savored it all with the beautiful song "Drops of the Danish King". The author of her words was Bulat Okudzhava. By the way, his script also belongs to the script of the film.

Why do gentlemen have royal drops?

In his song, Bulat Okudzhava admits that since childhood he believed in the power of curative royal drops, they supposedly treated all their ills, and they were able to resist the attacks of swords and whistles, and, truth be told, they helped. Believe something the author believed, but how much he trampled down the vital roads, and he never found the treasured medicine. And were they, these drops?

And here they were, it turns out ...

Breast drops (a mixture of decoction of licorice root with anisovo-ammonia drops) came to Russia from Germany. It was in the XIX century, and, perhaps, their recipe and the truth was made by the King of Denmark. Some tend to identify these drops with the name of the monarch Christian IX.

This king is known for the fact that he and his wife, Louise, were wearing the unspoken title of "father-in-law and mother-in-law of Europe", so prolific were they and their offspring. That is why many of the notions of "drops of the Danish king" are associated with Christian IX. Drink, they say, the medicine and you will be just as healthy, powerful and influential.

But what about the cavaliers here, someone will ask? The fact is that in the same XIX century, people believed that the drops from the Danish monarch in some way protect and from diseases from the "bouquet of Venus" series. Maybe that's why Okudzhava decided to play a bit of hooliganism, addressing his message to "cavaliers"?

So which of the Christians sang Okudzhava?

The song from "Zhenya, Zhenechki ..." has nothing to do with Christian IX, they say on the other side of the research barricades, Bulat Okudzhava is not singing about him. "The drops of the Danish King" are dedicated to Christian, it's true. But not IX, but X.

During World War II, the Danish monarch Christian X became a symbol of the movement of Danish patriots fighting the Nazi regime. This person is associated with many entertaining stories that testify to his valor, courage and unprecedented love for the Motherland. It is said that when a fascist flag suddenly began to flash over one of the local ancient castles, King Christian categorically demanded to remove it. He was told that any Danish soldier who had decided on such impudence would be shot on the spot. Then Christian began to climb to the hated flag himself. What is not the hero for the song of the front-line volunteer Okudzhava?

"Drops of the Danish King": chords of enthusiasm, words of faith

Researchers of the poet's work will later say that there is a "double bottom" in the song from "Zhenya, Zhenechka ...". The second half of the 60's, just about to appear unknown before this word "dissident", "sixties", and in "Kaplyakh ..." they feel their early arrival.

Already the very name in the Union was perceived as a miracle elixir, giving feelings of honor and decency, the courage of a citizen and personal courage. And although the official press crushed the film in the dust, it was impossible to force out love for him from the hearts of the common people. For him, "The drops of the Danish king" still smell of mystery and youthful enthusiasm today, and mischief and wisdom still remain in their composition.
