Aspect is ... It all depends on the context and scope of the word

In our speech there is a sufficient number of words and stable expressions, which we use quite often, without delving deeply into their meaning. Or, on the contrary, a person, using a word in the right, but unusual for the majority sense, can stumble upon a wall of misunderstanding from people who are accustomed to using the term in a different context.

Among such terms, it seems to me, one can also include such a notion as the "aspect". This concept is used by psychologists and journalists, politicians and educators. We hear it quite often and have become accustomed to such phrases as "aspects of communication" or "aspect of development". I am sure that the overwhelming majority of people correctly understand the meaning of the word "aspect" in this context, namely, as a word indicating the side or one of the components of the phenomenon under consideration.

However, sometimes the use of this word can cause surprise. For example: "The seasonal aspect of the coloring of foliage of poplars has changed significantly in recent years" or "Ancient scholars paid special attention to the aspect of 150 degrees." Agree, it sounds a little strange. Nevertheless, the use of the term in these sentences is not a mistake of the negligent author, it is completely justified. In the first phrase, the aspect is the term of biology and points to a certain feature that tracks changes in natural areas. In the second, the term characterizes a certain arrangement of planets and is used in astrology.

A few more branches of knowledge and applied science use the concept "aspect". This is a unifying object in one of the Branches of programming. It is a synonym in linguistics (for example, to the word "opinion"). In astronomy, an aspect is a certain arrangement of planets or other objects relative to the Sun or each other. In psychology, this concept is used to refer to approaches, species, and also the object of scientific research. The most common, despite the diversity of spheres of application, remains the concept of the aspect as a viewpoint on the situation, the problem, the field of knowledge or one of its components.

As you can see, this concept has a fairly wide range of values, and it can be applied in biology and software development. Another question is how appropriate is the use of this word in a little-known meaning unknown to the broad masses? Of course, this can surprise specialists, for whom the unconventional use and meaning of the word "aspect" is part of professional terminology. But in the usual conversation such "cleverness" can play with a "connoisseur" a cruel joke. Interlocutors can perceive it as disrespect or deliberate bragging, and such a reaction from others is hardly the desired result.

Summarizing, I want to say: any conversation will proceed easily and naturally, if the interlocutors will not try to "flash" the depth of their knowledge. Speech abounding in obscure terms, inappropriate for the situation, causes irritation, and it is difficult to name such a person as a pleasant interlocutor.
