Modification of the machine, adopted in service in 1974, was named AK-74. Assembly-disassembly of it as a whole is not much different, but it has several features. Let's consider this process in detail.

Why dismantle the machine?

Many of those who took up arms for the first time, the question arises of the expediency of assembly and disassembly. And the old warriors know that the machine loves leaving. Cleaned and lubricated, he will serve the fighter with faith and truth for many years.

Types of disassembly

Before you start learning, you always need to get to the point. Professionals distinguish two types of disassembly and assembly of Kalashnikov assault rifles: incomplete and complete. The beginning of these processes is approximately the same, but even by name it is clear what is their main difference. Incomplete disassembly-assembly AK-74 is designed for cleaning, lubrication and inspection of the machine. As a rule, it is held every 2-3 days, even if shooting from weapons was not made. The cleaning state depends on the state of the machine and the degree of contamination with the powder gases. After the shooting, you will have to work carefully over each spare part, and non-shot weapons are sometimes dry enough to wipe the rag with special weapons oil.

A complete dismantling-assembly of the AK-74 is used, if the machine received severe pollution, lain in the water, sand or snow for a long time. This procedure is also appropriate when switching to a new lubricating oil. Of course, you can not do without complete disassembly and during the repair. This process has two features: first, it is desirable to conduct it under the supervision of an experienced gunsmith, and secondly, it is not necessary to make a complete disassembly without the need - the weapon does not like this, its parts wear out more quickly.

Process Features

Order of incomplete disassembly

Before proceeding to disassemble, it is necessary to remove the grenade launcher and bayonet knife, if they are used.

1. Assembly-disassembly AK-74 always begins with the removal of the store. We hold the weapon with the left hand, the right clasp the store, pressing the thumb on the latch. Then we put the store forward, and it easily leaves the slot.
2. We switch the safety switch to the "OD" or "AV" position.
3. We withdraw the handle of the bolt frame back, inspect the chamber. If at that moment the cartridge was in it, it will fly out. We throw the handle, let down the cocked cock. An important rule: the handle is sharply released, rather than trying to smoothly bring back.
4. We take out the pencil case. To do this, press your finger on the round cover of the butt nest. We remove from the pencil case a brush, a rub, a screwdriver, a puncture, a pin.
5. Separate the ramrod. Using tools (from the pencil case), you can pull the ramrod over the hole at the end.
6. We press the thumb on the heel protruding from the receiver to its exit from the hole. This allows you to remove the receiver cover. Then we separate the return mechanism from the channel of the shutter frame.
7. Separate the shutter frame with the shutter. To do this, we remove the frame to the point of failure, lift it up with the bolt, and separate it from the receiver.
8. We extract the bolt.
9. We remove the gas tube. For this, it is convenient to use a special tool made of a pencil case with a rectangular hole. We put the tool on the ledge of the gas tube shutter, turn the contactor, remove the part.
10. Unscrew the muzzle brake-compensator by grasping the pin with its finger.

Cleaning weapons

Disassembled auto parts are usually immediately cleaned. Of course, if we are not talking only about the standard of assembly and disassembly of AK-74.

For cleaning and preventive lubrication of the machine, the following applies:

• RFS solution for the removal of powder deposit;
• Gun lubricant;
• Rags;
• Flax fiber for cleaning the barrel bore.

Start cleaning and lubrication after disassembling the machine and carefully inspecting it. It is not necessary to use for this process foreign objects, not provided by the instruction. All the cleaned parts and mechanisms should be wiped dry and then start to lubricate. You can not fill the machine with oil too much, it speeds up its wear. Details and mechanisms of the AK-74, the assembly-disassembly of which was carried out for the purpose of inspection, cleaning and lubrication, should be covered with a thin layer of gun oil. Surplus can be removed with a clean rag.

Build order

The AK-74 is assembled in the reverse order.

• We screw the muzzle brake onto the thread of the barrel.
• We return to the place the gas tube, pushing it with the front end to the gas chamber. We rotate with the help of a toolholder.
• We attach the bolt to the bolt frame. To do this, insert its cylindrical part into the channel of the shutter frame and rotate it so that its leading projection falls into the figured cutout of the frame.
• We insert the shutter frame into the receiver, holding the bolt.
• We put the return mechanism in place - into the channel of the gate frame. At the same time, his heel should lie in a special recess on the back of the receiver.
• We put on the cover of the receiver.
• We lower the cocked gun, pointing the barrel of the weapon up.
• We put the machine on the fuse, lifting the translator of the fire modes up to failure.
• We put in place the ramrod, put the tool in the pencil case, return it to the nest.
• We join the store.

The standard of assembly-disassembly AK-74

Previously, the procedure of dismantling the machine for a while was mandatory for fighters of absolutely all arms of the army of the USSR. Today, the expediency of this action is largely revised, but the urgency of the speed of assembly-disassembly is not in doubt. In addition, in many units assembly-disassembly of AK-74 for the time being held in the form of competitions. The order and technology are regulated by the all-Army "Shooting Course." The same document also specifies the time frame for all procedures.

Norms of incomplete disassembly of AK-74:

• For 13 seconds - "excellent";
• For 14 seconds - "good";
• For 17 seconds - "satisfactory".

The standard of assembly after incomplete disassembly:

• For 23 seconds - "excellent";
• For 25 seconds - "good";
• For 30 seconds - "satisfactory".

Record

Do not think that 36 seconds (13 + 23) is the minimum time for which assembly can be performed-disassembly of the AK-74. The record is much lower than these figures. To date, many cadets of military schools, professional military and ordinary arms lovers are contesting the world championship, but the official winner is not announced. The matter is complicated by the fact that there are clear requirements for the recognition of the record. First, the parts of the machine should not be scattered in all directions and even more so to fall to the floor, and many potential record holders are not entirely responsible for this rule. Secondly, the order of assembly-disassembly should not be violated. In addition, a record will not be counted if at least one part is separated from the machine in any way not regulated by the "Rate of fire". If a fighter admits at least one error that could lead to injury to a person or a breakdown of an automaton, then it can not go not only about the record, but also about the surrender of the norm itself.

Disassembly, assembly and charging of the store

Then move the movable metal part towards the inner bend of the magazine, pressing the lid behind it with a finger. The spring in it is compressed, so remove the cover with care. Next, the cleaning is made according to the situation: the moisture is wiped away with rags, sand and garbage got by - a brush. Periodically, the spring should also be lubricated.
